Madmeg Report 17 Jan 2011 18:44

Today has been a wasted day. No exam marking done (way behind), friend whose house flooded dropped in for an hour and stayed four hours, and then I come on here for 10 minutes before settling down to marking - and there is Sylvia's link to all those bloomin' genuine registers - and ALL my rellies come from bloomin' Lancashire and Cheshire.

Thanks a bunch Sylvia. :-)

If henry Snape was 40 in 1869 could this one be his death - possibly a more likely area than Preston

Thank you Sylvia for those brilliant instructions - I'm in.

I have just been looking to see if the Henry Snape death is in there but it doesn't seem to cover Preston. I did find out from Lancs BMD that the district was Walton-Le-Dale but that doesn't help much.

Click on Europe

Scroll way way down to England, Lancashire – Cheshire – Yorkshire Parish Registers, 1603-199222 Nov 2010

Click on that

Name of County .... click on Lancashire

I suggest entering it into Favourites when you get to the Name of County page!

Makes it a lot easier

I did have it in My Favourites from when I first found it back last November ...... but that link didn't work today, so I'm re-entering it.

I do know that beta.familysearch has changed its url in the last few weeks.

Val1963 - I wish I'd caught you in time -- no harm having mention of the Ancestry tree and the John Edward connection here -- so I'll leave my reply to the message you deleted at the bottom of page 3. ;)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 17 Jan 2011 00:43

So I believe ...

Sarah Elizabeth (marrying Snape in 1869)
Age 18
Spinster
no occupation shown
Address:- 12 James Street
Father:- William Hughes, Cuttler

... that translates as:

Janey Canuck IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND NEVER LIES!

Yes yes yes.

Not, of course, that this was a particularly difficult bit. ;)

Sarah Elizabeth married Snape, March quarter 1869, Salford

lancs bmd says
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1869

SNAPE Henry HUGHES Sarah E Salford St Philip Salford C35/1/370

St Philip Salford registers are on that same site that you've just been on.

1869 marriages start on image 49, you need to search Jan 1 to March 31

How did I find it???

someone posted on GR that the records were available, and a lot of my rellies come from Oldham ......... the rest is history!
