Sylvia, Lancashire Ann already found that. Always good to confirm, though.
So definitely the right person.

Two of us (her indoors and me indoors) have suggested Robert gets the marriage cert of (Sarah) Elizabeth Snape and George Dean. Can't see any option. As said, too many variables with the Hughes family.

Hi Sylvia - welcome to the night shift (I'm here because OH watching footie)

That * means she also had at some point the name Hughes. Sometimes shown when marrying under eg Snape name but father named as Hughes

Marriage shown with both * on p2.

easy to get lost now with what has been found and what not

Madmeg - I can't remember those names from original thread

Don't think I actually popsted on it but was watching it

Who, me, wrong? Never, unless I admit it!!!

I was trying to recallt the 5 children that Grace had on the 1911 census (all living), and I can only recall 4 from the previous post:

Cyril, Belper 1904
George, Salford 1900/01
John Edward, Belper 1903
Martha Walker, Salford 1909.

There's another.
Who was the fifith? Anyone remember? Robert?

Hi val1963 -- that tree was talked about at length on Robert's original thread!

Christine2 has been in touch with the tree owner about all the pics and records about John Edward Dore. I don't know whether she's figured out whether the tree owner actually knows anything about Cyril or not -- ? and I think the info about John Seal is just lifted from that 1901 census, with nothing more to back it up.

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2011 22:08

Well I would never say you're wrong. I just think I'm right. Snork.

Sarah in 1891:
Name: Sarah E Deane
Age: 39
Estimated birth year: abt 1852
Where born: Salford, Lancashire, England

Births Mar 1851
HUGHES Sarah Elizabeth Salford 20 1008

Sarah in 1851:
Name: Sarah E Hughes
Age: 2/12
Estimated birth year: abt 1851
Relation: Daughter
Father's name: William Hughes
Mother's name: Mary Hughes

Hughes-Snape certificate will tell!

Oh -- Snape-Dean certificate?

Yeah. Both.

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 16 Jan 2011 21:49

Dea, where did you find that Henry Snape was 43? Little Sarah Elizabeth was just 18, poor child.

Sorry to say Robbie, but you've got to sell the telly and get this marriage cert:

Marriages Sep 1878 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DEAN George Manchester 8d 337
SNAPE Elizabeth Manchester 8d 337

I'm not at all happy about the Dean families found so far, with no definite Sarah Elizabeth in 1861. We can surmise that was her in 1851, but that is all it is - surmisation. But there are other Sarah E Deans, OOPS HUGHES, born rather earlier than 1851, and she could have lied about her age, being older than George.

Anybody think I am wrong?

Don't see any alternative really.

Robert, there's a soup kitchen down the end of Market Street, just past M&S, before you get to the Salford Bridge. A mate of mine hands out blankets there - if you get the blue cellular one, it is from me.

Robert

Robert Report 16 Jan 2011 21:48

Bit of a RUM woman 'ol Grace .....Dore, Hughes, Snape Baxter Dore!!

Bet half of Salford was populated with her off spring!!

One other thing I was wondering.....

On my tree I have got as far back as Richard Dore ( 1695-1752 ) born Sandiachre. Died Sandiachre.

Married Elizabeth Lymb ( 1692-? ) born Nottingham ( Strelly ) Died Sandiachre.
Married on 11/2/1716 in Nottingham
ALLEGEDLY. :))))

Is there a way of going further back..... like early 1600's maybe further hmmm

Had my dinner, stuffed. I've tried finding marriages for John Seal's kids, and nothing sensible comes up - but not giivng in entirely yet.

Any sign of that scan from Robert?

Dea, my record of Henry Snape's misdemeanour didn't give an age - where is yours from?

Well done all, yes it looks like 'LATE SNAPE' on the cert. I've posted it to Dea and Margaret for verification but Margaret's came back undelivered so tried again, Chris your next baby just hang a sec. The scruffy little tykes are banging on the front door with the penny for the guy ( oooh, is it January already, I told them not to take the Guy !! ) Just going to confiscate the proceeds!!

Hope that Henry Snape is no relation, he should have been hanged by the .......!!

Right Chris here goes, it's coming through as a JPEG Image file

I do hope you had taken a printout before it all went Robert.

You just have to add as much humour to this thread as you did to the last! The entertainment was good! The research too of course.
