thanks anne i reckon the names andrew petrie and euphemia graham were my birth mothers, father and mother as she was called euphemia graham petrie and they all stayed in hill street greenock i have my original birth certificate but there is no fathers name i think i have hit a dead end as most of the family are dead i managed to get in touch with some birth relatives but nobody knew i existed i was a well kept secret thanks again

In Scotland if the father is not named on the birth certificate then there may be a RCE (Register of Corrected Enties) in the margin of the birth register if the mother went to court to prove paternity. Otherwise the father's name may never be proved.
