William was the illigimate son of Alice Tarbuck and was christened RC in Wigan on 1 Jan 1836. There is no father mentioned on the birth records, I have seen the film.
He always said Robert Tarbuck, Farmer was his father but that was a lie. He is my GGGrandfather. His daughter Ellen Tarbuck was my GGrandmother.

I didn't say they were his parents, Julie. I thought William himself could have been married twice, to Catherine and to Ann. Of course she could have been Catherine Ann.

He could be living with his uncle in 1851 because of his job which means that his parents would/could still be alive?

Hi Madbull. I dont think any of them are his parents as they are all still living in later census' but William is living with his Uncle James in 1851.

On the 1861 census he's married to Catherine. This looks like the marriage:

Marriage certificate would give father's name if he knew it.

It is even just about possible that George and Ellen could be his parents.
No relationships are given on the 1841 census. It is possible that Alice is a daughter in law, I have found baptisms for 1 daughter and 3 sons of George and Ellen but no Alice.

The 1841 census also has an Alice, 25, George, 24 and James, 20. Either Alice or George could be the parent. Or both of them, they could be married.
