Been searching for him on 1891,no luck so far...Wonder if Emma married and he is under her new (poss)surname on it?

Life dont half get in the way sometimes..:)

The Henry on the 1881 census that Maureen posted is aged 6 months on the actual image.

The census was taken on 3 April 1881 but there doesn't seem to be a birth corresponding to his age on the census.

(wondering if this is the Emma on Maureen's 1881 posted earlier, could be a possible for the witness on Henry's marriage?)...just a thought, lol.

Just looking at the Marriage image again, witness Emily's surname does look like Pescott...

Think that 1880 Birth find would be a good buy :-)

Dea Report 16 Feb 2011 14:17

That birth for a Henry 'Martin' Pescott spurrs me on to what I have been following all morning!

PROBABLY a 'red herring' - I can't connect it but I can't let it go either !!

Perhaps someone else can explore?

I was following the one of the witnesses at Henry's wedding - Emily Prescott.

I came across 2 likely ones in Islington on 1891 but this one caught my eye as she was living in the
same house as a Perry family !

PRESCOTT, Emily Mother Head Widow F 42 1849 Nurse Islington London
PRESCOTT, Emily Daughter Single F 10 1881 Islington London
PRESCOTT, Annie Daughter F 8 1883 Highgate London

PERCY, Emma Wife Married F 37 1854 St Pancras London
PERCY, Walter S Son M 1 1890 Hornsey Middlesex
CLARK, Mary Ann Niece F 17 1874 Islington London

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Same house also has the HUNT family but I have deleted them as probably unconnected.
..............................

I couldn't trace Emily back to 1881 and could find no marriage for an Emily to a Prescott.
............

This is her in 1901
(Name on image says MOSS crossed out on image and replaced by Prescott) !!
She has a visitor called Moss on 1891 so this could well be her maiden name? - Again, no marriage!)

PRESCOTT, Emily Daughter F 19 1882 Highgate London

Note - she is now married but was a widow on 1891??
........................

This is the marriage of the Walter Perry living in the same house as her on 1891:

Sarah Martin is a 'widow' by 1891??
...........................

This may all be a load of nonsense and completely unconnected - If so, I will delete it
to save confusion but in the absence of anything else to follow, I thought someone
might like to help me explore further?

rootgatherer Report 16 Feb 2011 14:29

Sorry Jax, I was busy searching when you posted and didn't refressh the page.

On the actual image of the idex it certainly says Pescott and it typewritten. I still think that it is a possibility especially in the absence of anything better!

Dea, I think it is worth leaving that there, at least until something eliminates these people. I am liking the look of George Martin the butcher - especially if the Pescott birth were to turn out to be Prescott!
