Hi everyone. I am fairly new to this but have done well on my maternal side (back to 1500s) - then I come to the paternal side - the Shepherds. I thought this would be easier as my father had 15 siblings!!. Now this is complicated. My dad's parents had both been previosly married both bringing children into the marriage. I'm desperate to find the name and birthplace of my grandad's 1st wife and the birthplace at least of my grandmother's 1st husband. this is what I do know:-
Walter William? Shepherd married ? ABOUT 1900 children:-
Walter,Fred,lily,Elsie9died@16yrs)
Sarah Elizabeth Tanswell (neeRiest) Hull? married Charlie Chapman from? Children:- Mary,Doris,Charlie,Phylis,Winnie,Reenie, Maybe from Barton-on-humber.
Eliz Tanswell (26.10.1885 then Marries W. Shepherd children together, Jack (MY DAD) George, Harry, Kathleen, Jim, Joyce(died @2yrs) I think all born Dinnington,Sheffield, South Yorks (my dad LIved @ 35 Western Ave, Dinnington - born 1925 CAN ANYBODY HELP ME MAKE A START PLEASE? Thanks Shep

Your post is very difficult to understand. I presume you have your father;s birth certificate? What's the mother's maiden name on it?

sorry the shepherd family is soooooooo complicated. I have no birth, marriage or death certifictes. firstly Sarah Elizabeth Tanswell ( nee Riest fromHULL ) married Charlie Chapman from???? in1903 in hull .
Walter Shepherd from?? married??( Possibly a clara claxton from leeds (someone - lancashireann has suggested this info.) - she died don't know when.
then Walter Shepherd married Sarah Elizabeth Tanswell probably around 1915-1921 as my dad (jack was born1925 and wasn't the oldest of Walter and Elizabeth's children they had together. The others were, harry, george ,kathleen, Joyce(died 2and a half yrs),Jim
Elizabeth and Charles Chapman' s children were, mary, doris, charlie, phylis, winnie, reenie
Walter and ???????s children were walter, fred, lily, elsie
not sure if this is any cleare than the first posting! but thankyou all those who have sent info (JUST WHERE &HOW DO YOU GET IT & SO QUICKLY) I,ve spent the last hour on gr records and can find nothing positive as ther are so many walter shepherds etc and not knowing there d.o.bs or origins is frustrating. There is only my dad left and I haven't seen him for 41 yrs - he did a runner to Leicester (I'm in Sheffield. The woodhouse info looks promising I'll keep trying but still need help thanks chris shepherd (shep)

I wonder if your father could have been George and used Jack as a nickname? Although Jack is usually a nickname for John. This George's birth was registered Oct/Nov/Dec quarter so could have been born August.
