So it looks to me Eric died without marrying and the other brother married but did'nt have children...unless his wife had been married before in which case that would not be her maiden name

As he was born in 1927 he could still be alive.

Yes this matches up with information i have got - i believe she was my fathers first wife and they married in 1925 at St Cuthberts Sheffield
