I live close to BULWELL NORTHERN CEMETERY and am willing to take photos of any grave in there

plus basford cem, only small and only about half the graves have headstones but willing to look

please give as much detail as poss,

it may take me a while as grave yard is quite big, so if you don't have a grave number its a lot of searching, but the staff are very helpful there

Do the staff at Bulwell allow you to search their grave records if you don't know if you don't know that the person you are looking for is buried there or not, or do they charge a fee and do it themselves

I was going to ask the same question as Wendy, when i rang the Nottingham cemeteries they wanted £30-00 to do a search.

I dont know if my Gt Grandmother is buried there in the Northern Cemetery, but she died in Nottingham in 1927, and lived at Bulwell

Its Wendy, I can do a search of the General Cemetery and Church Cemetery and Basford Cemetery at Nottingham Archives but they dont have records for Bulwell or Wilford Cemeterys.

The burials I'm looking for are Ann Derbyshire died June Qtr 1911 born 1857 and Alfred Derbyshire died March Qtr 1925 born 1855.

I hope its not a problem for you but here are the details of my Gt Grandmother.

My Gt Grandmother was born in 1862 in Bulwell Nottingham, she died on the 1st of February 1927.

Her birth name was Elizabeth Richardson, she married twice, her first was to Thomas Drury my Gt Grandfather, then she married a James Niblett, sometimes Niblett is spelt with two Bs, so she died as Elizabeth Niblett

She actually died in the Nottingham Poor Law Union Workhouse Infirmary, which as you know is now the City Hospital.

Her home address on her death certificate was

7 Charles terrace
Spring Road

Bulwell.


I hope you can help, as i said i do not know if she is buried there or not.

there is no longer a office at bulwell it is all at wilford,but i have rang both the old bulwell office and only the other day wilford and have never been ask to pay

if you inbox me your detail of who you would like i will have a go for you, as much detail as poss please, name at time of death, and at least a year really helps,

I called into Wilford Hill only yesterday (as I live in Clifton) looking for the graves of my grandmother and great grandparents graves who I know is buried there and they told me it would be £30 each person for them to look their graves up. So I would think they charge the same for the other cemeteries they are in charge off.

did you tell them it was for your family tree or that you was looking for a family grave??

i rang up only a few days ago and ask for detail of a grave and the lady was most helpful, told me everyone in the grave- the grave owner and where he lived at the time

i think it depends on who you get

i have been spending many hours at the grave yard any way looking for my family graves and dont mind looking for others if they will not give details so offer still stands

I'll try Wilford Cem again then for my gr grandparents who should be buried there.

Alfred Derbyshire 1925 buried 19 march aged 71

also in grave

John Aston buried 26 feb 1941 aged 72

Martha Elizabeth Aston buried 24 feb 1950 aged 68

Stephen Fleming buried 3 mar 19501 aged 60

Thank you very much. Can I ask you said plot p4 41 I have a map of Bulwell Cemetery and can see p4 but what does the 41 mean please.

Can you tell me where you got the map of the cemetery from please Wendy? I have in laws buried there and I know the number but wouldn't know how to find the grave.
The P4 will be the area and the 41 will be the actual grave number I think.

Thanks that helps. the maps show the area's then. I got the maps from a friend who got them from Wilford Hill. If you pm me your addy I'll email them to you, I have maps for Wilford Hill, Basford, Nottingham General and Rock (Church) Cemteries
