Marriage:
347/1880 WILSON DAVID BLACK [married] STRACHAN JEMIMA CREW [in] SYDNEY

Suspect this is Jemima's birth with informant error on her death:

11958/1857 STRACHAN JEMIMA C [f] JAMES [m] ELIZABETH WINDSOR

Fits with her age at death.

This marriage would seem to clinch it - mother's maiden name CREW. Not sure why reg twice, perhaps one is her previous married name?

2125/1856 STRACHAN JAMES [mar] CREW ELIZABETH WINDSOR
2125/1856 STRACHAN JAMES [mar] ENTWISLE ELIZABETH WINDSOR

It seems the Leslie Wm who died in Brisbane was alreday in Qld by 1933 (does not fit with electoral roll in NSW...). His death on Qld bdm online does not show parents names.

The Brisbane Courier, Tuesday 21 March 1933
TRAFFIC BREACHES.
A fine of £3, in default seven days' imprisonment, was imposed by Mr. P. M. Hishon, P.M., in the Police Court yesterday, on Leslie William Wilson (40), fisherman, who pleaded guilty to a charge that, on March 19, at Mus- grave Road, Brisbane, he was under the influence of liquor while in charge of a horse and cart. Senior Sergeant D. M'Grath prosecuted.

thanks tony - yes that would be my man.

How did you find the electoral information ?

This information may help solve a mystery - Leslie William Wilson married my grandmother in 1920. Rumour has it he was aboriginal - my research indicates otherwise- he was born to David Black Wilson and Jemima Crew Strachan - so of Scottish origin.

The rumour gets more complicated apparently my mothers father was not the man who married my grandmother but rather a man who had assumed that name. The fact that there is a 1936 census records for this man in NSW at the same time as he living in Queensand could mean the rumour is true. The 'LW Wilson' who died 7 Mar 1956 is my mothers father . Hope you can follow this I have just finished night duty and really should be in bed.

thanks for your assistance
