Would someone be able to do a lookup for me on the australian death records for Ernest william r northrop born 1919 and died in 1980, i was wondering if the record says who his parents were.

I know of two other people researching Ernest Northrop's family, and, indeed, he was a distant cousin of my wife - we have nearly 1800 people in her Northrop tree.
If possible, the four of us ought to put our heads/information together, maybe?
But a problem is that John F Northrop, one of Ernest's half-nephews(?), has changed e-mail address and effectively disappeared.

According to our research, for what it's worth, Stanley's marriage to Maude Emma Challis was registered 4th Qtr 1903 at W. Ham, Vol 4a, Page 641, I believe I have found three children of this marriage:
1. Stanley William J. Northrop, birth registered 1st Qtr 1905 at W. Ham, Vol 4a, Page 505. Nothing more known.
2. Winifred C. Northrop, birth registered 1st Qtr 1912 at Epping, Vol 4a, Page 999 - whose marriage to Percy E. Read was registered 4th Qtr 1933 at W. Ham, Vol 4a, Page 731 - no children found.
3. A son Northrop, forename not recorded, birth registered 2nd Qtr 1915 at Pancras, Vol 1b, Page 58 - nothing more known
Stanley's marriage to second wife Lily S.Brown (born Sarah Lily Silvey) was registered 2nd Qtr 1926 at Epping, Vol 4a, Page 926; her birth had been registered 3rd Qtr 1897 at St. Saviour, Vol 1d, Page 50, and her marriage to Joseph W Brown was registered 4th Qtr 1915 at W.Ham, Vol 4a, Page 647.
I have found no trace of when Stanley's marriage to Maude occurred, nor of what happened to Joseph Brown, but it seems that Joseph & Lily/Sarah Silvey had a son, Stanley J F K Brown, birth registered 3rd Qtr 1917 at Epping, Vol 4a, Page 681.
So, moving on, Children of Stanley and Lily:
4. A possible son: Ernest W. R. Northrop (mother's maiden name = Silvey), birth registered 4th Qtr 1919 at Epping, Vol 4a, Page 10_8
5. A possible daughter: Eileen F. L. Northrop (mother's maiden name = Brown), birth registered 2nd Qtr 1921 at Epping, Vol 4a, Page 920; nothing further found.
6. A probable son, Ronald D. Northrop (mother's maiden name = Silvey), birth registered 4th Qtr 1924 at Epping, Vol 4a, Page 707; The death of a Ronald Dennis Northrop was registered in 1993 at Thanet, Kent, no marriage found.
7. A probable son, Geoffrey A. Northrop, (mother's maiden name = Silvey), birth registered 2nd Qtr 1927 at Dunmow, Vol 4a, Page 1421; no marriage or death found.
So far I haven't found the registration of your mother Elsie's birth on 20th August 1922.
Has Barnardo's been able to help? Were any of the family shipped out to Canada or Australia, as happened to so many thousands?

and what I I'd love to know was where the actual birth dates came from, and how you managed to link these people to Stanley Augustus Gale - whom I absolutely couldn't find in the 1911 Census, let alone any of the first four of these or Stanley's wife.

Hello Don, it appears that the actual birth dates of the children listed above came from Stanley Augustus Northrop's WW1 service records (they're on Ancestry). The dates of birth of the children are listed on there, along with the date of his marriage to Maude Challis.
There is a lot of personal information on there regarding his toing and froing from Australia. It appears he'd gone to Australia but came back when he heard his wife was cohabiting with a man called Ackland, this was about 1915.
There are lots of pages, many in very bad condition. If you're not a member of Ancestry then it would be worth taking the 14 day free trial just to save all of the pages.
