I am trying to trace John Jewell Carter dob 1848 Breage Cornwall

John married Mary Jane James dob 1854 Breage in Cornwall in 1872 Cornwall.

The 1891 census has Mary Jane Carter living in Barrow in Furness Lancashire without her husband

The 1901 census has Mary Jane Carter living in Dalton in Furness Lancashire again without her husband.

I cannot find the family on the 1881 census. I have even looked for a John Jewell, occupation as a Carter in case there may have been some confusion when the details were taken, but have had no luck with that.

Allthough i am not on Ancestry when visiting a relative who is i viewed a tree which has John Jewell Carter dod 1900 in South Africa.
I am not sure if this info is correct as they have his 2nd christian name as Joel, when it easy to find his birth and marriage as John Jewell Carter on free bmd.

I hope this has not confused any one.

If anyone can find the family on the 1881 census or a connection to John Jewell Carter in South Africa i would be extremely gratefull.
