Hello,

I am trying trace Winifred Cowing and any children she may have had. She married Mark Rodaska in 1926 4/4 5h 676 at Hove. I have been unable to find children or any trace of the name Rodaska. Perhaps she is still alive? What nationality is Mark Rodaska? Could they have returned to his country after their marriage. Any leads or ideas greatly apprciated as I have been searching for many years.

Thankyou

Pat

FMP passenger lists

RODASKA Winifred M 1925 F 1947 Southampton Canada Halifax

Strange that is the only entry in that surname

Not got the right sub on FMP to view the entry

Now beginning to think he was a serviceman who travelled in and out of the country with his unit

Perhaps Mark was posted over here during the war
and Winifred went to join him in Canada after the war.
There is only one Rodaska coming up as listed on the
telephone in Quebec. Irene

Thankyou Irene, I was wondering where I was going to go next. How do I get hold of that number and/or an address that I may be able to try contacting. Is it online? I live in Australia.

Regards

Pat :-)

Over the past few days I have been trying to find any information on Winifred and Mark Rodaska in Canada. Are they still alive or perhaps they had children. This is such an unusual name but so far no luck Would anyone have any hints about how I should go about this?

if you do an internet search for Rodaska you will find that the name is virtually unknown

here though you have confirmation, the name in the marriage index is the same as the name on Winifred's passenger record

I would get the marriage certificate to get as much information about Mark as possible ... age, middle name, father's details, occupation ... it does sound as if he was in the services

the Canadian Legion has a 'last post' webpage where they publish death notices of veterans that come to their attention, there is no Rodaska in their records

I do not see a Rodaska at canada411 ... but if you did find one it would be hard to imagine they were not related !

it is possible they emigrated from Canada to the USA as this was not uncommon in the post war years ... or Mark Rodaska could even have been from the USA and joined the Canadian services early in world war II when the USA was not in the war, this was not uncommon too ... but whitepages.com for that country also shows no Rodaska results

I might also wonder whether they anglicised the surname but to what ... we could not know

an internet search did turn up one result in NY state that could be interesting

http://www.usidentify.com/lauren-sindoni

named as living in the household of someone shown there

I can't identify that household in white pages listings in that location but one might think that someone else with the associated surname would know that other household

http://www.whitepages.com/search/FindPerson?firstname_begins_with=1&firstname=&name=sindoni&where=Schenectady

actually there is a listing for one of those names

http://www.whitepages.com/name/Lauren-M-Sindoni/Schenectady-NY/1dtn0md

and that could be worth a try .........
