Yes, I have this family as the most likely but it is odd that she didn't give any of their names to her children. Also, I know Bridget had at least one sister born in 1885 called Jennie who does not appear with this family on the 1891 census but who is staying with Bridget and William in the 1901 census and who my aunt remembers very clearly.

Yes this is William and his parents and his sister in 1881. I have them from 1841 until 1901 and then not in 1911.

Hi Tempest that sure looks like you have found them,Grange Villa is between the area of Stanley and Chester Le Street Durham.
No sign of parents or Donald Michael Meadows born 10/9/1900.

I wonder if this is some of the children, there are 2 spaces for the parents names but these are blank

the 1901 was in "Middle Hold in Pelton" and on this the birth places are "Low Hold Yorks"

Ignore my last post - have misread. Is this info from 1911 census in which case it could well be Esther and Mary and they would be using the surname White which would suggest theirmother had re-married to Jim White by then.

I don't think the marriage you found is right - the christian names are wrong.

I queried the name of Elizabeth becuase of the 1909 marriage posted but I now see that Tempest has found a marriage in 1906

It's a possibility thanks. However, he was known as Jim - but worth following up.

I ahevn't been ableto find her husband William'sdeath record to get a date so it's hard to know when she might have re-married. She was apparently a bit of a character - not in the nicest sense! I have a photo of her looking exactly like the granny in the Giles cartoons!

The info you sent about the marriage in Durhamin 1891 has her as Bridget Mary and him as William. I haven't mentioned an Elizabeth!!!!

Although Bridget Mary is on her marriage certificate, she was always known as Mary and records herself as Maryon the 1891 and 1901 census. I can't fin her birth either - she records herself on the 1891 and 1901 census as having been born in Newcatsle.I can only find two that would be right in Newcatsle and neither feels right in terms of family names . In the 1901 census her sister is living with her -Jennie McCabe aged 16.Can find no trace of her before 1901. Jennie is recorded as having been born in Ushaw Moor Durham about 1885 but can find no trace in 1891 census.

The McCabes are one of my sticking points in my family research!!!

Thanks Jonesy - I have that one. It's the 1911 one I can't find.They just seem to disappear. They stayed in the area because my gradad married my gran in 1921 and he lived in West Pelton then.

Yes that is the 1891 marriage certificate of William and Bridget Mary - known as Mary and I have it thanks.
