Hi

I am trying to trace my relative Henry Charles Bridger (born 1825 approx and not sure where he was born - all we know is that he died at sea and was an able seaman on the Adria), I haven't got a subscription to Find My Past, this seems to indicate there may have been a will for him between 1875 and 1876 but am unable to view, I have a subscription to Ancestry and would be willing to look up anything on there as a swap if someone wouldn't mind looking on Find My Past for me.

Many Thanks

Maddie

Hi Maddie

That sounds like it is possibly him - I know that he married Sarah Maria Quested on 15 June 1874 and they had a son James Henry Bridger who was born only months after Henry Charles Bridger had drowned at sea (James Henry is my grandad)

Hello again..I've been trying to find SS ADRIA for you..and there are several..but appear to have been operating later than 1875...two possibilities wer built in Britain..one in Scotland and one at Bristol.the Bristol one is interesting becasue the dates fit..but it was built as the "ETNA"..and not renamed "ADRIA" until 1896 after it had been sold to Italy..try Googling..you might find something \i've missed.

Derek.

Hi Middy- was looking for the details of this person but I have found this post so I am not sure whether this information has been given to you. On the 1841 census there is a Soldier called Henry Bridger aged 18 together with a William Bridger aged 20 in the Portsea area.
The other post for this was one from 2009 . Whilst you mentioned that his date of birth was 1825 on the other post, it could be that he gave a false age-jl

Hi Janet

Thanks for the information - haven't seen the 1841 census so will have a look - to be honest I don't really know whether he had any siblings all I really know is his dad is called John and was a coachman and this is from Henry's marriage certificate

Thanks

Hi

I am finally having time to be able to carry on and research my tree, since my last thread here I can now see on FMP that I now can see the Place Of Death - Cape Finisterre and also the date of his death, which was not stated on the death certificate - however, I do not know how to get further information about his death or what happened to the ship - Adria that he was aboard.

Any ideas??

Thanks
