Is anyone researching the Downing or Bishop families of Southminster Essex? I am stuck on Joseph Downing [born 1742] and I can't get back any further.Possibly they moved to Southminster from Norfolk or Suffolk as there were Downings there but it's only a guess. I would welcome any help. |

Hi, did you ever get any further with Joseph Downing? I am stuck on him too. I have spent some time on the Seax pages of the Essex Records Office with no luck. I thought he might come from Manningtree as there were Downings there at the right time but annoyingly the baptisms for 1742 looked a bit incomplete. |

Suzi, you might do better to send Michael a private message, in case he isn't reading these boards any more. |
