Have you got the marriage cert? Might be worth a look, as if nothing else it might give names of some Yartey family members, not least Adamah's father. And it will give her middle name, not sure if that would help but you never know!
I can't find a trace of a Jane Yartey anywhere, including marriage or death, or any offspring in England.

Yes it is, found out his father owned a garage in or around the Stepney area, and she worked on the buses as a bus conductress. Apart from that, still nothing. I suspect that perhaps yes they did emigrate somewhere.

My initial thoughts was perhaps that he had been army or something and had decided to go back to the USA. But that was before I found out about the father. He would possibly have emigrated here from West Africa/

Is this an African name (sounds that way to me).

Shirley, thanks very much for your attempts, I drew a blank as well looking in the deaths, and possible births sections. Even tried old telephone numbers of Yartey in the Kensington area without progress

Have just found out that she married in 1950 to a Adamah Gartey (as in the census but pretty sure it is Yartey).

OK! How sure are you she moved to England? Not wanting to be negative, but if you have her exact birth date it might be possible to check in case she has died - this is do-able 1970-2005 on Ancestry, assuming the informant knows her DOB of course.
Otherwise you are looking for a marriage. I assume she had no middle initial?
