His wife was Maria Penna Lecher.

I remember now. My dad alway said his grandmother was named Louisa.

On the marriage certificate for John and Louisa, the witnesses are Richard and Sarah George. so I wonder if this his is brother??

Elizabeth Jones was a Widower when she married, so Jones was not her maiden name........ however she could have been the witness at Richard George's marriage in 1840.
