Belawan Estate near Medan (a harbour town), Sumatra. Area put under Dutch Governance latter half 19th century. Europeans running plantations - lots of tobacco, mainly Dutch. Try googling Belawan Estate - de Fremery and belawan estate |

The only thing I can suggest is that you search the electoral role for Caledonian Road London but there wouldnt have been one (ER) taken during the war years |

Hi, it's a bit of ashot in the dark. H was my nans fathe although he is not on her birth certificate. All we know is that he and his family excaped Belgium before the war andhe was in WW1 as a Sargeant. His parents and two sisters I believe lived in Caledonian Road, London. I've assumed his birth year to be 1895 onwards as my great grandmother was born 1900, so I am assuming they were of a similar age, his photo shows that he wasn't an older man. I think I am asking for two much in trying to find any information about him but I thought I'd have a go. thanks for your quick response. regards, Karen |

Pieter - surname not known, lived London, came over from Belgium with family, mum, dad and poss two sisters. Was in WW1 in British Army uniform, poss sargeant as wearing a flat capped hat, picture is very grainy and old though, lived Caledonian Road area in London, returned to Belgium ater the war maybe, thank yo for any help. :-D |
