Hi everyone...a little update...I am awaiting an update/clarification from GR...because of the way Orange (my email provider) works my registered email doesn't show as the email I have queried from...if you're still with me....I have tried to confirm I am who I am (sounds a bit like Gloria Gaynor)....anyway...I am a member until end March...I will re-subscribe - it's the basic £10(ish) for six months. But I am still feeling sore at GR and may or may not participate fully rather than just be selfish and build my tree.

But for anyone reading...there's a great thread about Edwin Capewell. If you like whodunnits/conudnrums etc etc then THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!!!

And MC... tonight is a Shiraz Cabernet from Australia... :-D

I have a couple of weeks until my subs are up Madmeg, so will see what happens before then. I was told I have a warning as I have had posts reported before...maybe GR would like to tell me what for. The only notification about a removed thread/post I have had was 18 months ago when someone reported my look up thread. I dont know what T&C I broke then, because there are others with them.

There have been a couple of silly ones where someone just does it out of spite, but never been notified of them.

GR had better get their act into gear as there are quite a few disgruntled members today

Hi Jude, been off here for a while so I don't know you. But take notice of everyone - do not let the beaurocrats on GR (or some snotty-nosed poster) spoil your hobby. Jax I know better, surely you won't give in Jax, 'twould be a sad loss. And hey, don't we know a few people who've been banned several times and still proved their worth?

Jude,
You helped me a very long time ago when I first started, but even now still need pointing in the right directions at times. People like yourself have helped alot of people over the years, which if not for the likes of you would not have progressed any further.
I must admit if GR had pulled some of my comments I would like to know what I had done wrong..will they not tell you?? Perhaps someone just didnt like what they found out - but you have to be prepared for things like that when researching your family tree. You would be very lucky if there wasn't something in your tree that shocked you, babies out of wedlock, not marrying, etc, etc, things happened in those days as well as today. Please dont give up. :-D

All

I have received some lovely PMs and the thoughts on this thread.

It is truly comforting to know I have friends on here who I have never met, who I am unlikely to ever meet but with whom I have a shared interest in this addictive hobby. And all of whom want to share to their respective knowledge with others who seek it.

I am absolutely truly humble tongiht.

I will absolutely stay. I work very full on full time in a very stressful job and this is my way of switching off and unwinding.

But GR if you are reading this...you were the first site I used. You are not the best but I want to be loyal and I like the tree set up.....but loyalty can be tested.

:-)

alviegal Report 3 Jan 2012 20:04

Please stay Jude.

I agree there are nowhere near the amount of people asking for help anymore, but we mostly all work well together and have helped hundreds of people with their trees.

I have no idea why your thread was pulled but rise above the censors and don't give them the satisfaction of losing another paying member.

That makes absolutely no sense at all, you would think genes would want to keep all their members happy as they rake in money for a very basic website. Lately they appear to be acting very strangely by pulling totally innocent threads and upsetting genuine people like yourself.

Chin up, we're all behind you.

I have always been a brunette and had my plait (single one) cut off the day after my 12th birthday and still have it :-D

Maybe I could have extensions made out of it and added to my greying hair :-D

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 3 Jan 2012 19:43

Mc - ha ha - I am cheering already. Not sure if that is you or the wine (a rather nice Vendange)!

For someone who was so blonde at birth I became - by the age of ten an absolute brunette. Though in summer I noticed that I had a lot of red highlights.....

So when I did succombe to "enhancing" my colour (not dyeing you understand) when I was well into my 40's,I chose to go copper/mahogany etc etc etc.

And when I do get grey hairs - I still have so much brunette - that they show with an utter vengeance...so they have to go - kaput!

:-)

MarieCeleste Report 3 Jan 2012 19:35

Dear me, if you're worried about censure for a few glasses of wine then you'll be safe hiding behind me!!

Well, I would be grey if I wasn't blonde!!
