1891 second eldest daughter Margaret is a Private School Governess
teaching Music in Lee London.

Seem a very well educated family.

Just reread the will entry again .
Thanks Shirley

Can anyone please find John S on an earlier census than 1871.

On 1851 census there are 4 Parkes children born in the West Indies.
William c 1838 , Henry c 1840 attending Rawdon School in Yorkshire whose head William Lord is a Wesleyan Minister.
Sarah c 1844 and James C c1848 are living with parents John and Sarah in Castle Donnington Derbyshire . Father John is a Wesleyan Minister.

Trying to marry up John Sowter with this family as on his baptism parents are John and Sarah.

Have you got this from Family Search - I Googled St Christopher Island and it another name for St Kitts. ( note: Santer not Sowter but one or the other could have been mis-spelt)

This link is to the Who Do Think You Are program about Rick Stein. His great grandfather was Henry Parkes a Wesleyan minister. I did a bit of searching just out of curiosity and I think that Henry was your Henry 1840 the son of John S Parkes. He was Henry Ashwell Parkes and his probate is on Ancestry
