James REIDFORD & Jane Alexander QUINN are in my family tree. James is a 1C to my mother (ms REIDFORD). I know Jane died in Lochgelly Fife in 1988, but not entirely certain about James. I think he has as well. Family relocated to NRY when coal industry went into decline in Fife.

I'm in touch with their 4 children, who are my 2C, plus grandchildren. Several grandchildren are on my Face Book friends' list.

Jane was born in 1921 & ms was QUINN. Her father was Hugh QUINN & Margaret ALEXANDER.. I dpn't have a birth place for Jane, but she & James REIDFORD married in 1947 at Somerville Church, Posilpark Glasgow. First child born Springburn Glasgow, next 2 in Kirkcaldy Fife, 4th at Lochore Fife.

Hope to hear back from you & how you relate to Jane's & James' children.

Hi Trena,

Thank you for this, but unfortunately it's not the lady we are looking for.

Anne,

Did you ever find your correct family member? Was there a REIDFORD connection? So far, research has shown all Scottish & English REIDFORDs are related.

Hi,

Thank you so much for this information. We still haven't managed to trace Janet Alexander Whyman, but I will definitely get the divorce records now. Thank you for this.

I hope they prove helpful. It would be great if you can let us know how you get on.

If you are going to Edinburgh to look at the divorce records, you will need to order them in advance as they are stored offsite. You can order copies by post and they will give you an estimate of the cost by email.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Trena and Rootgatherer for your help, it's much appreciated. It's really interesting to find out that William and Janet did not get divorced until 1981 - we found a marriage record for William and Agnes in 1945. My mother in law - who is Janet and William's daughter will be very interested to hear of this :-D Pity we are still struggling to find out what happened to Janet. We have just discovered that Janet's brother Charles Haldane Whyman died only last year in Cornwall.

Thanks again for your help and hopefully the divorce papers will help.
