Hello Ann.
I am researching my great grandfather Harry George Griffiths born 1931.
I visited the Leckwith archives and staff were able to tell me that he was transferred from Ely Hospital on 12-08-31 to Cardiff City Mental Hospital, Whitchurch.
I haven't got his death certificate but believe he died there, later that year.
The archives were not able to provide any further details.
In your post I notice you state that Whitchurch Hospital hold excellent records.
Would they cover 1931 and if so, where are they held?
Many thanks
Cath

Hi Cath - they would cover that period because the hospital is over a hundred years old - they did have the records in the strong room at the hospital, but whether they still do I have no idea

give them a ring and ask them

Whitchurch Hospital - 029 2069 3191

Thank you very much Ann - will ring them on Monday.
His wife was in the Asylum in Bridgend and the Leckwith Archives had all her records, it was incredible moment.
It included her medical notes with her death certificate attached and lots of details about her family - most exciting of all - there was a photo attached so my 85yrs old dad was able to see his grandmother for the 1st time!
