Freedom of London image from Ancestry sent - if there were supporting documents, they might still be with the Butchers Guild (if there is one). Do an internet search.

I can't save the Tax records as shown on Ancestry to my computer - someone with a 'snip'it' tool might be able to do that.

They are only one line entries in a Ledger.

City of London, Aldersgate Without
1822
Aldersgate South

Bless You Mark
This looks exactly what I want. I have all the census census tapes from 1841 to 1881 but I never saw Robert Gilbert, the eyesight is not as good as in my younger days. John Keyte and Elizabeth Gilbert were my GGG Grandparents
Thanks
Rosina

Potty
Thankyou for that information, I have John & Elizabeth on my tree with the children that you mention at Ashley Terrace from the 1841 census and I have the childrens marriages etc.
The strange thing is I cannot find the birth of Elizabeth Gilbert either, but from 1851 all the census says she was born in Clerkenwell (or could that be where she was christened. Family talk says that a ederly ant of mine did a family tree and she was supposed to have said we originated from Germany?????

Mike
I have John's Death certificate and it states age as 52yrs. He died at 7 Ashley Terrace Hoxton New Town. 1843.

Mike * Report 17 May 2012 18:19

If he died in 1843, then 1841 census would be the only one he appears on.
This census rounded down adult ages to the nearest 5 so he may well be up to 4 years older than the age in 1841 suggests.
