The Mawnan birth will be worth chasing up Ann as names ran in families and it may turn up hers. I have a John Gilbert baptised in Stoke Climsland in 1717 which could, possibly, have been my John´s father, which would make a birthdate for Jinny at around the same time. I did consider that it was perhaps a second marriage for both of them which would mean that Jinny´s maiden name was something completely different. John and Jinny´s daughter Elizabeth was born in 1757, when Mike´s Jane would have been 43. Couldn´t find any local Pascho (or variations) marriages around 1725-30 but will continue looking. All help greatly appreciated... |

Jinny was married by 1750 so the 1792 christening won't be her. |

Thanks for that Ann. I have the three births - it´s Jinny I am unable to trace. Have tried Pascho, Pascoe, Pascow and Pascowe and am unable to find any variations of that name in the Stoke Cimsland Parish Records. She was "of the parish" when she married, but her family could obviously have moved there after she was born. Was hoping someone could help with her bírthplace... |

I'm inclined to think it's Pascoe not Pascho - and she may not have been born in Stoke Climsland |

Bear in mind that Jinny was used as a form of Jane. |

John Gilbert married Jinny Pascho in Stoke Climsland, Cornwall, 23/4/1750. Though shown as "of this parish" I can find no Pascho (or any variation of) births in the Stoke Climsland Parish Registers whatsoever. Could be Jennifer, Virginia, Guinevere etc. but Cornwall OPC gives nothing remotely the same in any area. Any (clean) suggestions gratefully received...could possibly have been born in Devon but I don´t know where to start looking! |
