Mungo meaning and name origin
Mungo \m(u)-ngo, mun-go\ as a boy's name is of Scottish and Gaelic origin. Possibly "most dear". Mungo (from "Munghu") is a nickname for the ancient name Kentigern, and the seventh-century Saint Kentigern (also known as Saint Mungo) is the patron saint of Glasgow, Scotland. According to one biographer, he was uncle to the legendary King Arthur.

A baby name that sounds like Mungo is Manoach. Other similar baby names are Munro, Bingo, Dingo, Ingo, Mano, Manzo, Munroe, Monro, Munir and Ringo.

Just an idea. Surnames often reflected a place where the family originated.
Perhaps you could try looking in Borrowdale, Keswick, Cumberland.
I have a family who originated there and they also have sons called Mungo.

Thank you to all that have replied to my post, The main reason for this post was to try and find out if anyone had managed to find any relations or contacts earlier than 1535, because that is as far as I can get.
But as I said thanks for the replies, best of luck in tour own researches.
Robert.

Have you checked 'Search Trees' at top of page?, seems to be a couple of other Members with his name.

What Records have you found on him so far?...

Chris :)

To get back any further you will need to study the manorial records.
Parish records generally don“t start until 1538.
