Which is the earliest census you have her in? If she is in a household with possible younger siblings, then they may have had their birth registered if born after Sep 1837. The BC would give the names of both parents

Do you have her MC? That at least would give the name of her father, if known which might help you to find them together in an earlier census.

Hi DET as I live in Scotland have no English Census and

If it's any consulation, I don't 'know' Yorkshire very well! There are numerous results in 1841 for Elizabeth Lofthouse in Yorkshire, but they only say born 'in county' or not.

Even though AnnCardiff has found Baptism record, it might be best to buy the MC from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ to see what parental details are on there.

I was trying to say that it's much better to work backwards from solid facts that you know. For instance from which child of Thomas & Elizabeth Shepherdson do you descend? And why did you enquire about Ann Elizabeth 1847 who seems to be from a different family? And where did you get the 2 marriages of Ann Elizabeth that you posted on your other thread? They don't seem to exist.

This is DIL family, so info from her,

b1881 east riding-d 1929 Aberdeen.
On Gertrudes death and marriage cert
states Ann Shaves previously Gooch M.S.
