On checking the records on Ancestry for the death of Wilhemina Rose C Haack, I found the actual record to be perfectly correct, but misfiled under Haace.

I have left a comment to record the error.

I wonder how it happened as 'E' and 'K' are not close on the typewriter.

A glitch - computer crashed.

As I said at 02.51 today, I agree with you that Vera is almost certainly Bess, and Bessie Ellen M Hack, born 1908 is probably the daughter of Henry and Ellen Hack from the 1911 census I posted.

I decided to look at Electoral Registers.

In 1939 Grace is shown living with August, George, Gertrude and VERA

In 1945 Grace is living with vERA

In 1947 Grace is shown living with George and VERA.

In 1953 Grace is living with George. George C, Gertrude and Vera

In 1964 Grace is living with Gertrude and Vera at 2 Bevan Street - a change of address.

This leads me to believe that Vera could be Bess.

Any thoughts please

This leads me to believe that Vera could be Bess.

HOWEVER Bessie Ellen could be this girl in 1911, ie NOT from your Haack/Hack family.

Address is in St Giles area, as per birth ref GB found. Though no middle names are given for Bessy, her mother is named Ellen...

Putting together your memories of Bessie being a spinster, and the fact her third initial was 'B', I think you are probably right in thinking Vera Hannah/Anna B was known as Bessie.

Having revisited this family, I am now puzzled by Vera Hannah B born 1907.

I believe that Chris Ho is correct with his identification of Wilhelmine Rose C born 1903 and this would mean that Vera is not a child of August and Gertrude.

Vera appears on a number of family trees as part of this Haack family. I have tried to find her on the 1911 census, to find her parents, but without success.

I was also surprised to find Bessie had married and had a son. My childhood memories have both Bessie and Grace as spinsters. Their brother Claus George - known as George did marry but had no children.

I would really appreeciate a fresh pair of eyes looking at Vera and Bessie.

Ancestry gives a hint on 1930 US Federal Census Record relating to august Haack, but I do not have access.

Oh well, that's ruled out the August Haack b 1909 in Germany that I found in US records. Have since found his parents were Kurt and Caroline.

That 1911 Census is a mess. The Meakins live next door and have nothing to do with the Haacks.

A doubt I had about the 1911 Census was the fact the August Haack's occupation shown as tailor. On 1901 he was a hairdresser. Maybe tailoring was more lucrative with a growing family.
