Well Well Well
I found Lottie's Autograph Book and among the many signatures are a couple of 'Bruces'.One is Florence Bruce :-D The person Lottie was with in 1911.,and I see someone said she was Edward Maney's sister so Lottie's Aunty. So I think the mystery has been solved.
Thanks everyone for you help, and to Mel for putting it on here for me
:-D :-D

If anyone is interested in where Lottie (Charlotte) was a Theatre Attendant
Google....It's behind you ,Prince's Theatre Bristol. It gives pics and names of people who appeared on stage over the years..There are quite a few names mentioned that are in the Autograph Book I have that belonged to Lottie.

On the 1911 census where Charlotte A is at the Bruce's house she is down as a Theatre Attendant and this is why Jane seems to think this is her Lottie as she has an autograph book of Lottie's with names of certain acters in it but she can't find it at the moment. She's put it somewhere safe!!!! We all do these things don't we. She will probably be looking for something else and find it that way. Thats what usually happens to me.

I am not 'entirely' convinced Mel !

I am continuing to try to find 'proof' but as yet I haven't found it :-(

Nor have I found anything yet to 'disprove' it !

I would really like to find one or the other before I give up totally ;-)

Yes the war memorial is the son of Lottie and we have all that info thanks.

Florence Bruce is the sister of the Edward Maney born c1855.

So do you think this is the right Lottie, Charlotte Annie Maney c 1885 whose father was a Waiter continuously through the census??

I'd like to thank everyone for helping in the search for Lottie and her family.I think we have found the right people now. What a mystery Lottie has been lol
The clincher for me was the mention of 'Theatre Attendant'.I know for sure Lottie was working at a theatre in Bristol in 1911 as I have her autograph book of all the performers
Thank you so much everyone, and to Mel for putting the info on here.It is so good to solve a mystery :-D :-D

You should ALWAYS follow witnesses Mel - they can often be family members!

I found Katherine but could not see a connection but I wasn't sure which Herbert Owen it was but the one Chris found looks like a good match.

Maybe Edward 'was' Frederick Heyel's 'manager' ??

Dea

Dea Report 30 Sep 2012 11:44

There is a website somewhere which gives details from some sort of stage and theatre magazine from years past but I am blowed if I can find it !!

Does anyone know of it ?

Dea Report 30 Sep 2012 11:42

I followed Lilian Heyel who married the other witness and her father Frederick was a musician so another 'possible' link to a 'Theatrical Manager' ??

None of it is getting us any further though :-( :-(

Chris - I'd be more inclined to think it was the daughter Katherine who was the witness - a girl's best friend could well be here milliner!
