Yes this is Harry Rubens' death registration. We do know that Harry is not his birth name but was the nearest to that name. He definitely came from Odessa but of course it does not necessarily mean that he was born there. We are supposing he entered this country with the name Harry Rubens although he might not have. Thank you for your comments.

Harry Rubens does not sound a particularly Russian name. Could it be that he Anglicised his birth name after arriving in the UK?

Is this his death registration?

Name: Harry Rubens
Birth Date: 10 Oct 1890
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1970
Age at Death: 80
Registration district: Surrey South Eastern
Inferred County: Surrey

What was Harry's occupation, and did he give the same age on both marriage certificates?
What address did he give on his first marriage cert.? This may help to find him in 1911, if he arrived before the census.

It is extremely unlikely that there will be any records of when he arrived in the UK.

Around 70% of all WW1 records were destroyed during an enemy bombing raid in WW2.

His father (if known) will be named on either of the marriage certs.

Did he become a UK citizen? If he did, his naturalization papers may hold additional info

He doesn't appear to be listed in the 1911 census, so I suppose you could then assume he came between 1911 and 1914. There is one possibility in the WW1 Medal Rolls:

Name: Harry Rubens
Regiment or Corps: Royal Fusiliers
Regimental Number: J/487

There is also a Harry J Rubens:

Name: Harry J Rubens
Regiment or Corps: Army Service Corps
Regimental Number: M2/269087

I am asking if anyone can help me find when Harry Rubens, my husband's father, came from Odessa in Russia to England. I know that in 1914 he married his first wife in Woolwich and then my husband's mother in 1924. I also know that he was in the Army but after looking on FMP on both WW1 & WW2 he was not listed. I have not been able to get into the immigration lists to find him and I would be very pleased if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction or let me have some websites to go on. Thanking you all for reading this.
