Many thanks to everyone who had an input, I have not really got any further with my ancestor, but will keep searching.

Don't know if it's the right lad or not, but think this may be the baptism for the 1882 birth posted above:

EDIT: Can't find this Charles William on later census for his family. According to the 1911 Mary Ann bore 9 children and one died, could that be Charles W - but can't find a child's death that fits ....

Have you got a copy of the marriage certificate for Charles William & Edith Alice? According to the Army Records for Charles William Eggett he was a Waterman, Dock Labourer, Rigger.

Charles William Eggett married Alice Maud Bisby on 6 March 1909

They had 4 children
Mary Elizabeth born 22 Sep 1909 died 4 Jul 1918
Alice Maud born 24 Sep 1910
Miriam born 28 May 1912 died 6 Jan 1918
Edward born 30 Jun 1914

Their address was 46 Crowle St, Hull

Hopefully, the above will help to discount or otherwise.....?

I have thought and thought about this. It can't be coincidence that there is never two of him! So, either Charles William Eggett and Charles William Huggett are one and the same or there is some scullduggery gone on!

I would get both marriage certs for comparison of everything.

Are you sure he came from Yorkshire?
