Hi Prickles,

thank you again for all your help. To be quite honest i am struggling with it all. I was fine until i got back to my great grandparents. After that nobody in my family knew much at all. I still have so much to look at like my mum's dad's side of the family and my dad's mum's side. And there is still quite a few people on my dad's dad's side i want to look into as well. Do you have any tips or suggestions as to how to proceed with this?

Hi Katy, to get used to searching I would advise looking at Freebmd.org.uk and getting used to how that works, perhaps by using some of the details you've been given already to see how helpers found them.

Then if you're on basic membership here try some of the two week free trials that are available ( don't forget to cancel before they take money) and see which site suits you best. Ancestry is good for you because it has the London records which are a huge help.

At some point you will have to buy birth certs to confirm parents names, buy from the GRO online. Marriage certs will show father's names, birth certs will show mother's maiden names and father. .

Hi Katy

I don't know if these Grandparents are from your paternal or maternal side.

Whichever..........you can post another thread for the other Grandparents as you did here.

Giving all the information you know about them........but not adding details of living people.

Once you start seaching through the census records, it does get easier as you go along.

There are always members on this board, more that willing to give you help along the way, so don't ever be a fraid to ask for help.

You will soon become addicted!! :-)
