Well grandad had to put his children in a Middlemore home in London when his first wife died. They weren't naughty it was just he had no one to look after them as he had to work. The Eldest one was sent to Canada too as a Home child aged 10 . Once they were signed in an accepted by the home . like Barnados , any parent losr parental rights to them. Grandad remarried to my gran and took his two sons back but lost his daughter cos she had just left for Canada, he never saw her again as he died in 1939. In WW2 one of her daughters came to London in the Canadian Nursing Corps and managed to find one brother, through him her was put in contact with nan .her stepmum, and her stepsiblings. |

Thank you to all you wonderful people for trying to help me find mr ancestror Eden Clement West.I know he did not come to Australia with the rest of the family. As i think i have mentioned Family lore states he was supposedly shipped off to Canada as a 14 year old and was never heard of again.I thought he may have been a home child but haven,t been able to find any record of him ho hum.Back to the brick wall i think.Once again thank you to all you wonderful people i think you are terrific. |

The 1911 census says Clement and Edith had 10 children of which two died. They have been married 21 years. |
