This fits perhaps.

It reads better if you look at the original.

William, Ann and Ellen's info starts on line 6 of the document. Line 5 has been left blank after the previous family. Maybe there were two sharing one house. The original has been signed by Thomas.

They might be related of course. I've got a 1911 where someone is shown as a boarder but is actually the fil.

Glad to hear all okay with you. And yes, we are still happy thanks.

Census would fit with her yob. Can keep looking if you think it's not the right one.

Take care and keep in touch. Send me a pm when you feel able.

JustDinosaurJill

JustDinosaurJill Report 20 Oct 2012 14:42

Well I've found something which fits but it is, as we say in our household 'Pure journalistic speculation' so obviously it's nothing until you've proved it right or wrong.

I found this marriage in 1930 for an Ann J Machin

Surname First name(s) Mother/Spouse/Age District Vol Page
Marriages Dec 1930 (>99%)
Aldred Arthur Horsfall Bury 8c 887
Horsfall Gladys Aldred Bury 8c 887
Hulton Frank Machin Bury 8c 887
Machin Ann J Hulton Bury 8c 887

Then I looked for a possible death for William. I assumed death rather than divorce which I felt less likely - and couldn't look anything up for it anyway.

Because Ann J shown above married in Bury which in Lancs, I figured it was sensible to look for a death for William in Lancashire too.

This one does it and fits with his apparent age with the 1911

Deaths Dec 1921 (>99%)
Machin William 42 Bury 8c 563

Free BMD has four possible deaths for Frank Hulton up until 1946. Need to try and find him on a census to ascertain possible age.

Found this death for Ann J. It fits with her yob.

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
Deaths Dec 1946 (>99%)
Hulton Ann J 68 Barton 10b 310

Again. All guesswork but gives you a possible timeline if you can prove this Ann J is yours.

Have fun.

Going sideways. Have you done anything to work out William Machen's tree? Might provide a link to a tree on here.
