Find Ancestors

I am trying to find information about Elsie Nunn. I think she was born in Ipswich in 1901, i believe i have found her on the 1901 Census, but i cannot find her on the 1911 Census. It is possible she was born elsewhere, but my Father-in-law (she was his Mother) seems to think Ipswich was the place. Elsie married William Clarke about 1920 and they had 7 children, the first born Billy, whom i guess was also called William, died about 1931 or 1932. Elsie died in Ipswich in 1965. My Father-in-law thinks she had 2 Sisters, Nellie and Ethel, and a Brother called Sonny, and they had a connection with Gosbeck in Suffolk. Would be grateful for any information. Regards Sharon

You can order it from the GRO. This is done online and costs £9.25.
I think you do need it as there is no really obvious Elsie on census reports, and in fact no obvious birth either in Ipswich assuming she had no middle name.

Could Ellen be Nellie??


EDIT according to a tree on ancestry, this one married a Fred Hirst in 1919 and died in Oldham in 1989 so can rule her out.

There is no second name or initial on either of the BMD records about this woman

My father-in-law doesnt think she had a middle name. I'm wondering if Elsie was not her real name? Also i'm not sure alviegal if this is her family, but thanks for the info, much appreciated

Hi, i'm still having problems trying to find where and when Elsie Nunn was born. I have obtained her marriage certificate to William Clarke at Ipswich register office on 13th October 1923. The marriage was in the presence of Bertie Clarke (the bridegroom's brother) and Ellen Rose (the bride's Sister) Her Father's name was William John Nunn, and he was a farm labourer. The bridegrooms Father was also called William. They were both 24 when they married, so Elsie would've been born in 1899, and William 1898 as he would've been 25 the next month. On the application for a marriage certificate, the date of marriage is 01-Jan-1923 Ipswich. But on the actual marriage certificate it says when married thirteenth October 1923, so not sure why it's different. Would welcome any help. Thanks Sharon
