Had a look, it doesn't appear his pension/service records have survived, the only thing i can see is his medal card, but these do not provide that sort of info.

Do you know his parent's names? If you have him on any census record with a place of birth then it may be possible to find his birth record. You would have to by his birth certificate to get an exact date of birth.

Am being a cheap skate and trying to avoid paying for certificates, i am not sure whether he was registered as Taylor or McCoy so need about 10 certificates to differenciate :(

don't think so????
Edward is lodging with Mary McCoy widow she has 2 or 3 children Edward James and ? annie after her husband has died.
10yrs later census has Mary and James as man and wife with Edward and James as his sons and her previous children as step.

Please can someone help me with this mess.???

Now need a marriage certificate for Edward Taylo and Mary( Mariae) given her maiden name was Taylor I am a bit worried !!
