Catherine Mary Richardson b.1887 in Whisby Lincs is my deceased Grandfathers sister. My grandfather and her were orphaned at an early age, she was only 3. Their childhood was spent in the care of Uncles and Aunts. I last found her in the 1911 Census working (and possibly living) in a hotel in Vernon Place, Bloomsbury, London. I have tried but cannot find a marriage or any further data beyond 1911. It may be that in later years she became a resident of Mablethorpe as myself and cousins remember visiting a relative there as children with my grandma.

Please help if you can.

Hello Douglas, and welcome to the boards.

Do you know her exact date of birth? - That might be an advantage in trying to find a death record to work back from.

Thankyou everyone, your respones exceed anything I had expected. Truly amazing.
Collectively you have provided much I did not know and confirmed some things I did.

I should have quoted in my original posting that her birth date was 15th Jan 1887 and not just 1887. Her fathers name was Charles Richardson and her mothers Sarah Ann Clay as confirmed by some of you.

Five brilliant responses, thankyou all for your generosity and speed.

I will follow up on the new information you have given me.

Thankyou to all who helped me reach this point.
I would now like to pose a follow up question re Catherine Mary Richardson. The question,is where did she spend her final years? This is likely to be Lincolnshire, and it would be great if this turned out to be Mablethorpe because it would confirm the belief of myself and cousins.

What I have so far is as follows:
Birth: 15 Jan 1887 in Whisby, Lincs.
Christening: 26 June 1887 in Doddington, Lincs
Father: Charles Richardson
Mother: Sarah Ann (nee Clay)
Marriage: 7 April 1917 to Frederick Alexander Hughes in Hammersmith & Fulham parish of Fulham St Peter.
Residence: 51 Rosaville Street at time of marriage.

Did her husband survive the World War I years?
Did she remarry?
Did she have children?
Most importantly where did she die and when?

I have tried Family Search and FreeBMD but got nowhere.

Your help to-date has been fantastic but can you crack the last part of the story?

Thankyou very much in anticipation. If you succeed I can write a very news worthy letter to my cousins at Christmas. If not then you have been brilliant anyway.

Douglas, just a word of caution - although that marriage fits we don't have 100% proof that it is definitely her.

You could try checking on FreeBMD for any births to the couple.
