I wonder if someone with worldwide access could look this chap up.

He was born in 1892 in Edinburgh to William and Diana Carmichael (nee Edwards)

I find him in the 1891 England census living with his parents and siblings then nothing until his death on 4th October 1917 in Belgium a WW1 casualty. On the web I found mention of his death and the detail that he was serving with the New Zealand Forces and his nationality was now a New Zealander and a photo of his parents grave with his name on.

I guess he must have gone there after the 1891 census and as he was 35 at his death I wonder if he married and had family in NZ?

The different spelling of Jeoffreys is correct - seems to be a family thing.

I know everything about the rest of the family - it's just this point I'm stuck on.

Many thanks

So it sound as if he wasn't married at the time he went to war.

Any record of his time in NZ before that?

Thanks for the above.
