Don't quote the GRO refs............they mean nothing to the local offices

Thankyou so much for the responses, I'll try calling them and see what they say.

I'd rather not have to buy the certificate and I doubt her family would buy it.

But well worth a call.

Much appreciated :o)

If you contact Birmingham Registry Office and explain the situation they may have a look at the marriage certificate for you, especially as it would be very easy for them as you have all the information they need to find it, and give you the name of the church without you having to actually buy the certificate.
Could be worth a try!

If anyone is able to search the local paper of the last months of 1939 (which as it is Birmingham, it maybe a huge task), there maybe a notification. The library usually has microfilms of the local paper to check..

You will need the cert to find out where the marriage took place.
They do appear in a couple of trees on Ancestry, but no details of the marriage except the GRO ref.

Hi, just been to the funeral of an elderly lady from the home I work in and her elderly cousin is trying to find out where the lady was married. The Church they married in.
I wondered if anyone could help me with this info.

The marriage I'm searching for is Allenby L O Trigg to Alice Newton in last quarter of 1939 in Birmingham, Warwickshire. Volume number 6D Volume page 461.

Not sure if you can help, but I really would appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance x
