Seeking any information on Flora Mackenzie who gave birth to a daughter in May 1927 at Greenside Row, Edinburgh - by 1930 she was living in Royal Terrace, Edinburgh.
Flora was a domestic cook and her domicil is given as The Hotel, Applecross, Ross-shire on her daughter's birth certificate.

Any piece of information gratefully received.

Unless you can find out when and where she was born, which I doubt you can, you have very little hope of finding anything

Applecross is a very remote part of Scotland and I would think that anyone living there in 1927 would probably have been born there. The only road then was over the Bealach nam Bo, which even now is not for the fainthearted! This site has information about the area:

They may be able to help you.

Take your pick..........some can obviously be discounted

And she may have been born after 1901 census.......in view of the year in which she gave birth

What is your evidence that she was living in Edinburgh in 1930? Do you have any idea when and where she died?

There no Flora Maczenie births on scotlands people from 1898 to 1915 and the last would be too late.

Potty,
The Pass of the Cattle is an amazing road isn't it - you just need a good head for heights and hope you meet traffic on a wider bit! No wonder they built the new road.
Remote yes, but a wonderful area

Yes, Stuart, fabulous road. Not sure if we will be able to go over it again as our new motorhome might be a bit too long! But I am sure OH will want to try!

I wonder where Robert is?

Many thanks to you all for your replies.

I have a letter dated April 1930 written by Flora - address is Royal Terrace, Edinburgh.

The sum total of my knowledge of this woman is in my initial post.

I am in Dumfries.

On scotlandspeople there is only one Flora Mackenzie of the right age on the 1911 census in Applecross. The name of the child b1927 might give a clue as to whether this is the right Flora.

Not far from you, Robert - near Newtown Stewart.
