The deaths on CWGC for Royal Flying Corps don't seem to give service number.
This one is the closest I can see:

You're right , Dea, I'm just grasping at straws. I wish posters would stick around to answer questions. First question was asked 1 minute after original post.

I agree but 12 posts since 2003 make me think that maybe Victor hasn't realised just quite how quickly we all work :-D

If it was the one Margee has found, this relates. Scroll down the article on here.

After Ham Road School Oswald was appointed in 1915 as the first headmaster of Victoria Road School and continued there until his retirement in the mid 1930’s. Tragically one of his sons was killed whilst flying with the Royal Flying Corps during WW1 (2nd Lieut. Oswald Frederick Gravette Ball, 13 Artillery Observation Squadron, Royal Flying Corps flying R.E.8 aircraft, buried Aubigny Communal Cemetery F.1174) but his eldest daughter Leah later followed him to become headmistress at Ham Road then Victoria Road. Oswald also served on the Council for a while in the 1930’s.

Many thanks for all your information and tips, very much appreciated. I was given a scrap of paper that my wife had saved from her Auntie Olive (Fred was her late husband ) and he died at the end of WW1. On the paper were drawings and it ended with the details that I had put on FR. We were just interested in finding out a bit more about him.
I have already researched my Family tree several years ago - my Grandparents were from Russia (that was difficult to research, but I finished it) and then I had a stroke back in '08 and don't seem to have the energy to start another research. I was just interested in finding out where Fred had died - that' all.
