If you wanted to visit the grave for the above that I posted, in Sheffield:

The caretaker is on site, very helpful

England & Wales, FreeBMD Death Index: 1837-1915
Name: Hannah Sales
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1864
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1891
Age at Death: 27
Registration district: Sheffield
Inferred County: Yorkshire West Riding
Volume: 9c
Page: 257

Marriages Sep 1881
BILLARD Sarah Jane Sheffield 9c 541
Sayles John Sheffield 9c 541

Just wondered if you have a 'Billard' connection?

If it was a paupers grave, Hannah might have no connection to Thomas and Mary Jane Faz*

Thanks again guys.
Sheffield makes plenty of sense as my Nanan, Thomas' granddaughter was born in Sheffield!

Michelle Report 18 Nov 2012 14:28

Hi Guys, me again.

I have been looking into all the information you provided yesterday and I am a little confused. Ellen Fazackerley (was Boydell nee Longshaw) seems to have 2 different birth years even though all the information adds up to be the same person! I have one showing birth 1810 and another showing 1818! Unless I have got something wrong head is like 'whoa' at the mo!
Can anyone please help (again!) and try to clarify?
Thank you!!

greyghost Report 18 Nov 2012 14:55

Ellen's age changes from census to census - not unusual.
She is 23 in 1841 (b1818) Often the 1841 will have ages rounded down and at 23 she would have appeared as aged 20
39 in 1851 (b1812)
43 in 1861 (b 1818)
56 in 1871 (b 1815) Widow living i/c daughter Sarah who is now a Littlewood)
63 in 1881 (b1818)
68 in 1885 (b1816/17) when she dies - Warrington, Lancs Dec Qtr 8c 144

Thanks Stuart.
I thought I had found her birth and baptism records after the mention of her father (William Longshaw) and Mother (Betty Ratcliff) as 4.4.1810 bap. 12.8.1810??
I assume census estimated births are very estimated?

Gins Report 18 Nov 2012 19:36

Hi Michelle

Take no notice of census ages, they are normally out by a couple of years

Michelle Report 21 Nov 2012 19:33

Me again, I am stuck again and I am really banging my head against the wall.
I am trying to find information on JOHN FAZACKERLEY born around 1811. He is Thomas' father and was married to ELLEN but after that nothing...I would like to know mother/father etc. can anyone please help further?

K Report 22 Nov 2012 12:43

In 1841 it appears that John b1811 was living with his parents and siblings. His father and brothers were also listed as a file maker? They were living at Holt Lane Rainhill. All listed as born in County.

Thank you K and Stuart.
I had searched on the Lan-OPC site for hours I think I must have gone a bit blind with that one as I trawled through every church listed! :-)
