Find Ancestors

just to say ive asked about his person before,,, but I just wondered if someone could help me or how I go about finding out children that got sent to barnardo's
I found out tonight that sarah the person im trying to find out about, she had one daughter brn 1910 Lancaster and another child Bernard 1919 Salford, but we think she had a few more between, these two they told her that she couldn't hand any more children into care she had too look after Bernard...Bernard didn't have a good child hood apparently, and he never got told about the other siblings... so its a sad story and loved to find out how I go about it.... also sarah was born in a workhouse..thats probably why I couldn't find her... and why no father was mentioned on her marriage cert... I was also told she liked being called sally!!...would be a different name for sarah... or has she changed her name...

What was Bernard's surname?

A surname would help .

Sarah's birth should have been registered no matter where she was born or the circumstances of her birth. If you know the birth area ( from census ? ) it would be worth looking for a baptism, as many workhouse inmates were encouraged to have their children baptised.
Sometimes workhouses were the only form of local 'hospital' so women might be admitted just for the delivery and a recovery period.
Maybe Sarah was born with a different birth surname to that seen in a census.

May Sarah's are known as Sally, but each of these names might be a given name in it's own right.

couldn't find her on any census..apart from 1911...with her husband Robert ..(m 1910)... Lancaster...but on the 1911 census there no mention where she was born and her child mary...

sarah brn 1888 Lancaster (m) Robert timlin 1910 Lancaster reg office , mart brn Lancaster 1910 Bernard Salford 1919.... (believe to be more siblings but unsure ) 4 to 5 we think... so we been told that they sarah put them into care (barnardo's)
