Solomon Hemstock marries a Theresa May ???? BELIEVE around 1900 - 1907.
Information Theresa May Hemstock was murdered in Hull by a man she had been living with in 1932. Press reports from her Daughter say that the Daughter says her Mother Theresa had been married to Solomon Hemstock but they separated about 25 years ago (So that would have been c 1907)
I can find no trace of Solomon - Who was not the murderer.
The murderer was subsequently executed.
As my maternal lineage of Hemstock coms from Hul I feel sure there is a link but I need to find out anything about Solomon. Can anybody help please? Thank you.l

The actual census page has a lot of crossing out on it. At first Ada has been written down as "wife" and this has been crossed out and changed to "housekeeper". Soloman says he has been married 11 years with 3 children but this has been crossed out. Ada says she has been married 7 years with 1 child but this has also been crossed out. Looks as if they were living together as man and wife but decided not to say so on the census record.

Everyone's relationship to the head of household has been crossed out and altered.

Also, adding to Kath's post, the census is a real mess but Ada has Farrrell, as do the 2 children.

I'll pm a copy of the census, just in case it's relevant.

You are right Flip - the two children are down as Farrell but I think the young Solomon and Agnes are actually a Hempstock. This looks like the births:-

Also, it states Ivy E Wright is daughter but crrossed out and boarder written (she is 8) and Jhon (that's how it is spelt) P Wright is brother, but also crossed out and boarder written.

Wonder if Ada filled in the census, and John P Wright (ie her brother) and Ivy E Wright (her child) are her family members rather than Solomons??? :-S
