they were Whitehead Burbidge shown in(baptism) but later seemed to have lost the burbidge and were recorded ( census) as Whitehead only.

Do you have this? First child James born England, others Illinois.

How come they were Whiteheads if she was Sarah Burbidge/Burbage?

I have now found that James married Elizabeth Clark so maybe if I could see the parish records, there maybe a mention of who James' father was (unlikely I know)
I doesn't in Williams but I can't think of any way forward.

that's my William, natural son of Sarah Burbidge. I just cannot find out anything about where Sarah Burbidge was born and I so want to find the father a Whitehead who had two chidren with Sarah but theres my brickwall
i had found William in the Northamptonshire records office but checked it our today on your freereg link. His brother James doesn't seem to have made it on to freereg unless its mistranscribed . :-S

I am on a roll! Please could someone look up Enoch Whitehead for me.He was born in 1821/22 in Northamptonshire, probably Rothersthorpe. His father was James and his mother Elizabeth. i wonder if there is an address there, if he was living with his parents.
My dead end;-
I hit a deadend a long time ago with my lots of grts grandfather because he was illegitimate. He was William Whitehead born 1792, illegitimate son of Sarah Burbage/Burbidge. Born in Gayton Northants He had another illegitimate brother James Whitehead born in Bugbrooke Northants , also Sarah Burbidge as mother . I have combed every record i can trying to find Sarah but no joy. There is no link/clue to her or who the father of these 2 children was through my Williams records so now I am tracking James. Probably will find nothing but I am leaving no stone unturned!!! :-( :-S
