Find Ancestors

I am trying to find details about my Grandad: Jack Ernest Evans. He was not married to my Grandmother: Beatrice Sutton. My Dad was born in Shropshire in 1926. Jack also had a son with Beatrice's sister, Ivy. We think they were married, but I cannot find proof of this. He left the family and it is thought he may have gone to Staffordshire. I think he died in London in the 1960s. I do not have a birth year for him, but am assuming it is between 1890 and 1905. I am wondering if he fathered any other children and if my Dad has any unknown siblings out there.

Yes, Adeline, that is my family (Sutton) It looks woerth researching John Ernest Evans born 1890, that would make him the right age to father sons in 1922 and 1926 (my Dad) Thank you :-)

I was thinking that there may have been a mistake in recording the name of Ivy May Sutton in the marriage records, but Ivy was born in 1902, not 1900, so that is not her, unfortunately :-(

I seriously think that there is a very strong possibility that your Ivy and Ida are one and the same. You really need to obtain a copy of either the birth or marriage certificate to prove one way or the other.

Most information given on a death certificate is only that which is known to the informant ..... and may not be accurate.


The only information you can be sure is true is the following ................


place and date of death
cause of death
name, address and relationship (if given) of the informant
name of doctor


This means that name, age, address, and marital status of deceased may always be wrong!


Family always knows the birth date of "grandma", but the year is often not known accurately.

Thank you, Sylvia. Luckily i was able to find my Grandmother, Beatrice, and great Aunt Ivy May on the 1911 Census, so was able to confirm her birth year as 1902 :-)
