My G/F refused to allow any discussion regarding his father, Charles George McCoy 1869/71 or his father John ( date ?) or any of their siblings so we do not know much about them except they were often involved with the police which might explain the reluctance.
Family stories tell that Charles had 3 sisters, all of whom emigrated , but, the only possible trace of Charles might be the 1881 census ( right age) and he had all brothers.
That census, if it is him, has his mother as Anorah and there seem to be no trace of any marriage to John or his death that we can find.
Any views or tips would be appreciated.

Sorry but we are very, very new at this
We do not know where the parents originated from and the refusal to discuss didn't help.
Charles George was born in Clerkenwell London and like most of our descendants lived in the East End of London in Shoreditch.
We suspect that John might have come from Ireland and think that Anorah is possibly an Irish name.

You should be working back from your grandfather...........get his birth cert for factual info about his parents

If you've found the man in 1881, you MUST know where he was born........and where his mother was born

yes it seems to be, so many thanks.
It is unlikely that he was an only child at the time of large families but we have no idea who they were and how many brothers and sisters........

Perhaps, Suzanne, you have confused the info about your grandfather's siblings with those of his father.

If George as per 1911 was your grandfather, he certainly had at least 3 sisters!

any emigration is based on family stories, from my late mother although she was remarkably accurate on other information.
However even she was not aware of the court records we found so 'secrecy' was G/Fs obsession.
The 3 'sisters' are said to have gone to Australia, NZ, and Canada but which and where is unknown... she was also constrained in that information like us.
Assume since this family lived all their known life in London then the start place for emigration might be England.
My mother did not even know the names of the 3 sisters.
What little information we have, ie father John, is from documents although we do not know when or where John was born or married .
We are primarily trying to find the parents and/or siblings of G/F.
We can only speculate who his mother was or where she was born and there seems to be no actual record of Charles's birth that we have found.
