Oh what a lot of information - many thanks everybody.

No it is not Frederick JOHN - only Frederick.

Ann in Cardiff - where did you get this information from? Some of it is incorrect - these children have the wrong parents ( I have certs to prove it).

alviegal - I did wonder about this one but dob is incorrect.

Can anybody find a death for Frederick?

Janet, the years of birth are only estimates. A couple of years either way is pretty good.

Jasrajan

Jasrajan Report 21 Nov 2012 20:53

Yes, I know they are only estimates. The bricklayer from Leicester sounds ineresting though. Is there any way I can follow this up? DonĀ“t have access to Ancestry.

Well, that sounds very interesting alviegal. If the 1871 census shows the correct Frederick he certainly was a bricklayer.

Yes Chris his father`s name was Thomas Hallam.

I just could not understand how a person could disappear from all the records and there is no death recorded. It all seems quite logical now. The Hallams are very tricky as it is such a common name in Leics. & Notts. It took me 7 years to establish which Thomas Hallam I am related to. ;-)

I will check all the links you have sent me. Many thanks and best wishes from a very cold Germany.

It's very cold here too - you might like to know that Pinfold Gate is still there - at least half of it anyway - a little row or tiny terraced houses which have been recently 'done up'

Oh! Do you live in Loughborough then? I was there in May this year and my cousin took me to Pinfold Gate where I took a photo. I also visited the house in Storer Road where my grandparents lived. That brought back childhood memories.
