Not seeing anything obvious.

Was Hammond her married or maiden name?

If married, when was that?

What else do you know about her?

Sorry she was married - her maiden name was Pattison. This specific branh of my tree can be missing a lot from documents.

I suspected this may prove fruitless, but as the cliche goes, 'You don't know until you try'.

Thank you!

Thank you Andy. I should not I have asked for this family before but not specifically Christiana (whose death I have just found today).

I don't think any of them are about on the 1901 census. But just for clarity, I am not looking for them. Only for Christiana (already have a lot of other information on the family).

Thank you again

GlitterBaby Report 24 Nov 2012 17:21

Do you have the marriage cert to confirm it is the right Christiana

Peter

Peter Report 24 Nov 2012 17:33

No, but I do have confirmation from an enquiry I made with the register office. May I ask if you have opposing evidence?

Thanks.

These families sometime get more complicated than I would have first imagined! Haha not good x

Hi again,

ANOTHER SIBLING ... can I have another look up please for a sister of Christiana, who was LAVINIA PATTISON born 18 June 1879 in Redcar Yorkshire to William and Margaret Pattison (there was a cousin with the same demographic details born to a James and Hannah Pattison, in 1877. She married in Pontefract in 1894). I am only looking for the one born in 1879. Looking for a marriage and death.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 30 Nov 2012 20:45

I note on the 1891 census that William's occupation was a Tinner.

There is an article in the Middlesbrough Gazette in 1890 about a young girl of 11 named Lavinia Pattison who was wandering around Middlesbrough without proper guardianship and had been neglected in "a scandalous manner". She was to be sent to an industrial school for 5 years and her father (a tinner) was ordered to pay 3s 6d a week for her maintenance.

(Sent article to Peter)

EDIT: Just had a thought - the 1891 shows a Lavinia Pattison b Redcar 1879 in an Industrial School in Leeds. I guess Peter must have that 1894 marriage certificate to know the Pontefract one isn't his girl.

Peter

Peter Report 30 Nov 2012 20:48

Wow yes, that is her. I have seen this article a very long time ago. Thank you so much for looking into this.

At one time, I had confused this with her cousins, my closer relation. I now find this Lavinia in the 1891 in an industrial school in Leeds but then nothing after that. That is where I am interested in finding more.

Peter

Peter Report 30 Nov 2012 21:00

Yes I do have the 1894 marriage in Pontefract - that girl is a relative but not the one in the industrial school.

Can someone please check the emmigration records?

I can't see any obvious deaths or marriages.
