Eringobragh1916 Report 27 Nov 2012 20:58

Jacky...Catherine has supplied probable marriage of Owen Mahon (1934) see thread from yesterday 16.34.
Mohill is in the Co.Leitrim...not the Co Donegal.

Glad to hear that Owen is indeed the father of Catherine :-)

There are also these two births registered with mmn McCabe:-

Helen J Mahon Oct-Nov-Dec 1936 Dublin South

John P Mahon Jul-Aug-Sep 1938 Dublin South

..............although they are not in the same area it could be that the family moved away from Mohill for a while, which could explain the time difference between the birth of Annie in 1935 (Mohill) and Catherine in 1942 (Mohill)

To be absolutely sure of mother's name, you would need to buy a copy of the birth certificate of Catherine.

How sure is your source that George Spokes did indeed marry Evelyn Ewing?

If that is the case then the George Spokes in the newspaper report will not be your man, as his wife was noted as being Mary :-(

I would still be very interested to know what Raymond gives as his father's name and occupation on his marriage certificate!
