Am trying to get some information on my ggf, as above, and would appreciate any help.

John married Jane, possibly Clague, and then Margaret Tarburn. The 1881/91 censuse have him in
Lancashire with children, George, Jane, John (my grandfather) and Arthur.

Help, as I am truly stuck

Does his marriage cert to Margaret say he was a widower?

The cert should also name his father.if known

Have you tried Family Search site for his birth ?

Thanks for replies, really good of you both

Stuart - 1861 extract is the one, 1871 as widower ditto as kids with Margaret started 1877 on, 1881 is the correct John Parker plus wife, kids

Shirley - 1851 correct, but can't find date of 2nd marriage to Margaret or even first to Jane. Struggling with birth details as 1828

It is not the 1872 marriage above - that John Parker married Jane Percival (Lancs BMD) !!!

You said that he had married a Margaret Tarburn - I posted the marriage at 1134

EDIT - or so I thought! I see that Dea has posted the correct marriage pairings, so back to who was Margaret?

Christopher

Christopher Report 27 Nov 2012 12:02

Shirley - the 1851 IOM census for Jane is interesting, but I've got John married to Jane in the 51 Census

Stuart gave you the marriage refs to Margaret in 1872. For full details you need to buy the cert.

Edit crossed with Dea's post
